Revival Prep

We start revival tomorrow night with Earl and melissa Pelton. They will arrive tonight though so we've been busy getting the house in order and all that fun stuff. Hopefully we don't have any unnecessary excitement this week as Melissa is 20 days or so from her due date!! I'm a little nervous! LOL Aside from that we are trusting the Lord for a good revival week. This past sunday was kind of a down sunday due to sickness and people being out of town but I hope things settle down for this week... The church people also gave us a pounding for which we are grateful. And Saturday was the church big cleaning day as well as business meeting. Busy, busy, busy! After the meeting James and Rachel took us out to eat for Pastor appreciation and we had a very nice visit! What a blessing! Well, I'd better run, still have a few things to finish up yet...

Tulips

This is my tulip garden

So I finally decided that i needed my own little garden space right? Well, i got it and boy did I pay a price! LOl Let me explain... I told luke that I wanted to do it all myself so it would be "my" little space...so he said ok fine. Well, I didn't realize just how out of shape that I am and I'm even embarrassed to admit it! But just digging up my garden space yesterday with a shovel made me sore! How pathetic is that?! Oh well, anyways... I made it a heart shaped spot and planted 30 tulips. Half are red and the other half are yellow with red edges. I hope they turn out alright. If not it will be all my fault! LOL

Sunday Scramble

Sunday's are always busy days for a pastor's family. Just because that's the big "work" day for him... But anyhow, this sunday was a little more hectic for me than usual...due to the ladies being gone up North this week, it fell my lot to play the piano. A job that I don't do very well at because I am practically a beginner... However, you do what you have to do. It went ok I guess... LOL But sunday night I forgot to pick out an offeratory ahead of time and didn't have time between song service and offering so I played the same one I played sunday morning! LOL Oh these poor church people... bless their hearts for being so sweet and understanding about my plight... :0) We did have more kids this week than last so that's always a blessing. The Lord helped us in the services and the kids were pretty well behaved... even Thomas... LOL Today I'm hopefully going to get MY tulip bulbs in the ground with my adorable hubby's help. He's letting me have my own little garden spot to do with whatever I wish. So I love tulips in the spring time so that's what I chose to plant. It's getting chilly here now... I guess it is about time since its late into October. Well, that's all for now I guess.

Fall Festival

This Picture was actually taken while we were still dating...
When i think of Fall Festivals I usually think of lots of people, craft booths, things for kids, and food booths...Well, the festival we went to today had a few of those things.... and I do mean few! LOL I've never seen a tinier festival in all my life! :0) It was almost comical if it wasn't so pathetic. They only had a food booth; a "band" from some local church singing some gospel songs (which surprised me); a place where you could go and pet a horse and a goat; some blow up things for kids to jump in; and two civil war people or something... as I'm writing this it sounds more impressive than it was in person... i got sort of tickled over it really, but there were cars pulling in one right after another as we were leaving! Amazing... Oh well, it was a cute experience and the perfect day for a festival really. The weather is crisp, cool, and the air carries that distinctive Autumn scent. You do need a jacket to be comfortable though. In other news, as I like to say... Last night we went in to Fredricksburg because we were bored to death and there was nothing to do really because it rained all day. Luke got to go in to a few bookstores and i endured them LOl. Then because today is Sweetest Day, i fixed his favorite breakfast and my LEAST favorite--pancakes. I say that because I am so not a breakfast person...actually to be honest with you, I HATE breakfast. However, I married a man who adores it... how life goes I suppose! LOL Since its Sweetest day... I'll just let you all know that I have the best husband anyone could ever have...I know a lot of you women will argue and say that your man is;and I suppose you have the right to be wrong if you want to... :0) He is the sweetest and most understanding man; even when I'm in a frantic cleaning mood... LOL (only those who know me best will understand that statement) So my point is...I am very blessed to have a husband who is: wonderful, incredible, awesome, sweet, adorable (ok, so you get the point?!) :0) Happy Sweetest Day everyone!

New Faces

I thought it would be nice to put some pictures on here of the kids that we are working with here in our church. These were taken at VBS this year when Ben and Joel Steese were here doing our Bible school for us.

Pastor Appreciation

Yesterday we had a very sweet thing done for us... Sis Barbara and Sis Arlene took us out to lunch for Pastor Appreciation month. For those of you who are pastors (and wives) you know what a humbling and sweet gesture this is... We really had a nice visit with them and even got to see Sis Barbara in one of her "feisty" moods! :0) That's all I'm going to say about that! LOL Luke spent some time out in the yard again last night doing odds and ends and trying to get the stuff planted that's supposed to come up in spring. We've had really nice weather these last few days. It has just been perfect for doing things outside. We went over to Nancy's house today to visit and try to cheer her up. She's been laid up with a broken foot and hasn't been able to get much of anywhere but the doctor's lately and she really misses coming to church. Hopefully our visit at least broke the monotony for her!

Cook-Out

Saturday was James' birthday party cook out and we were invited to it. It was a beautiful day for it and just perfect since their house overlooks the river. It did get chilly as the evening wore on but mostly because of the breeze blowing in off the river. Rachel had made all kinds of food for it and we all enjoyed it so much! There was everything from Hamburgers and hot dogs to ALL of the trimmings!! It was a nice time of fellowship for the church people too. Sunday went pretty well. The Lord really came and helped in our services and there was such a sweet spirit. Our kids were low again even though they all said they would be there... I guess that's just how it goes when you're working with children. In other news...LOL Sarah Palin is going to be in Va Beach and Richmond today. Wish we would have known about it ahead of time!! They said there's just crowds and crowds of people. She's not scheduled to speak in Richmond until 2:00 pm but at 10:00 am they said the streets were just bumper to bumper with cars going to the center where she will be speaking. At least that's encouraging! LOL Well, I guess that's all my news for now... until next time!

Fall Planting

Well yesterday was at least a busy day for my husband! LOL I never do much with the outside work because he handles it all. So yesterday was a cloudy day, just perfect for dividing the Irises. We had so many it looked like we had bulrushes instead of irises! He divided them up and had a large bucket full that we gave to a lady in the church to plant for next year, then he had another huge pile left for us to plant. Our plants just exploded this year and grew WAY beyond what we really wanted them to. LOL Our morning glory vine took over our back deck it grew so much! Tomorrow we're going over to James and Rachel's house for a birthday cookout for James. That will be a nice time of fellowship but I hope the weather holds out! We've had beautiful weather this week but of course when you need it to be good weather it always fails you. Anyhow, that's all were up to right at the moment.

Visitors!

We finally had our first real company since being married. Of course we've had family stay overnight but I don't consider family company... So this past weekend the Marshall's (our Pioneer Supervisor and wife) were with us from saturday night through sunday night. However, we only got to keep them over night one night because due to their busy schedule they needed to go elsewhere sunday night after church. But, we had a nice time with them!! We joke that they are our "adopted parents" and call them mom and dad. :0) Bro Marshall was telling everyone before coming down here that he was coming to see how good of a cook I was and if I could cook better than luke. Well, I don't think we're in a contest but at least he did say that I passed the test with flying colors! LOL I think it helped his decision along when I made one of his favorite desserts (pecan pie). Anyhow, it was a really nice visit and the Lord really came and helped in our services. I took a picture of them on our porch swing so hopefully next time I get on here I can add it!

Busy as usual...

Today hasn't been so bad just a typical day really...its later on this week that its going to get more hectic! Luke mowed the lawn and I cleaned the guest bedroom in preparation for the Marshall's visit this weekend. Tonight we'll listen to the VP debates which will prove interesting i'm sure... Tomorrow I will finish cleaning up the house and run to the grocery store...then...saturday morning I'll help Sis Crystal and Sis Rachel set up the new theme in the junior church room while my hubby goes calling. Later on we will clean the church and then clean up ourselves before the Marshall's arrive. They will be with us for both services on Sunday but will be leaving after church on Sunday night... We wish they could stay at least one more night but they are super busy people! Hopefully soon I will be able to put some pictures on here...I had a hard time doing it when I was experimenting the other day though so it might be awhile... library computers can be both a blessing and a curse.. most often the latter...but anyhow...that's all for now...
